Why Professor Meyer is the Best
Professor Meyer is my favorite professor because he is awesome. He is like some kind of WordPress wizard. He knows how to fix all the problems and errors that have arisen during my website building. I like that he slows down and prioritizes making sure the class fully understands how to operate WordPress instead of just giving the class a bunch of assignments and deadlines. While I agree that creating a habit of submitting things on time is very beneficial for us in the professional world, I appreciate that he makes sure that we understand what we are doing first and helps us to build an effective website. I feel that I have learned so much more by this teaching style than I would have if he had just given us a bunch of assignment deadlines.
My favorite part of the semester was when Professor Meyer asked the class to make a plugin for fun over the weekend. Even though he promised a prize to anyone who made a plugin, only two people decided to participate. Which is too bad because I thought that was a really fun side project, and it did not take me long. He still owes Rachel and me a prize for that (hint, hint, Professor Meyer). For my plugin, I decided to make one that displays Gilmore Girls quotes at the top of my WordPress dashboard. It motivates me and makes me excited to see them every time I work on my website.
Also, he plays music for us in class. How cool is that?? Even though he wouldn’t play Edge of Desire by John Mayer (It’s okay, Professor Meyer, I forgive you). I like his music selection, although I do think he needs to branch out from Coldplay. However, I agree with his take on the John Lennon Christmas song; that song was annoying.
Professor Meyer instructed the class to make our blog posts entertaining and personal, but not too personal. In fact, he had one specific request that he mentioned several times, which was that he did not want to read about how John looked at us in convo. So, out of respect for Professor Meyer and his requests, I will not write about how John looked at me in convocation. Fortunately for him, I do not know anybody named John. As a commuter student, I rarely attend convocation in person, so I have made no eye contact with any Johns.
Another awesome thing about Professor Meyer is that I know he will forgive me if I do not quite reach the word count because I have a very concise writing style. Why say what you have to say in more words when you could use fewer? Anyway, what I am lacking in words, I am making up for in content by hopefully making this the most entertaining blog post he has ever read.
Overall, Professor Meyer has made my third semester here a fun one, and his class always makes me laugh. Even when he makes dad jokes that nobody understands, and thinks the class is ten years older than they actually are.
Professor Meyer, you said to make these a fun read, so I hope this blog post has been the most fun and entertaining blog post that you have had to grade so far.
